Automated Timestamp & Scene Renaming: How to Organize Video Production Assets Instantly
When producing video essays, animations, or multimedia content, video editors often storyboard their scripts with specific timestamps. For example, a script might require an image at 04:02, another at 04:20, and another at 05:18.
The standard download from web platforms produces random hash names like generated_asset_98240a1.webp. Renaming 300 of these files manually can take hours. Here is how TMSKP solves this problem automatically.
1. Timestamp Syntax & Auto-Formatting
The TMSKP extension parses timestamps directly from your prompt text. Simply format your prompts with a leading timestamp in parentheses:
(04:02) Close-up shot of an open illuminated book
(05:18) Aerial drone view of castle in misty mountains
The extension extracts the timestamp, zero-pads the numbers for file system sorting, and maps them to clean filenames:
(4:00)automatically becomes 04-00.png(4:2)automatically becomes 04-02.png(5:18)automatically becomes 05-18.png
2. Custom Subfolder Routing
Instead of dumping all outputs into your generic Chrome Downloads folder, the extension allows you to set a custom subfolder directly in the UI:
GoogleFlow_Outputs/Project_Episode1/04-02.png
All assets land sorted, categorized, and ready to be dragged directly into Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut.
3. Scene Numbering Mode & Timestamp Gap Auto-Increment
Don't have fixed timeline stamps? You can toggle Numbering Mode:
- Set a custom prefix like
Scene_orShot_. - The extension names files sequentially:
Scene_101.png,Scene_102.png, etc. - Or use the Timestamp Gap feature (e.g., 5-second interval) to generate automatic progressive timestamps starting from
00-00,00-05,00-10.
05-20_1.png), ensuring zero overwritten files.
